March 17, 2011

We had a nice St. Patrick's Day! It was pretty laid back, though. Since we've been sick for the last week we really didn't do too much today. But, I had some shirts for the kids to wear and I thought they looked pretty darn cute! Of course, they were long sleeved shirts and today was 80 degrees! So, we wore the shirts for a bit in the morning and then changed to some cooler green outfits!

March 16, 2011

First, It's my anniversary! Preston and I have been married for 9 years! I can't wait to see what God has for us in the next year! He is working so hard in his business. I just keep praying that God will lead him in His way!

So, the last week has been a rough one on us. And honestly, the whole winter has been rough on us! Joey, Naomi and I have had a respiratory bug for the last week. There has been an ever constant sound of coughing and blowing noses. On top of that, Naomi is getting teeth. At least four at once. Poor baby, they look like they hurt so bad!

In the midst of the sickness, we did go to the Imagination Movers concert last weekend. I was right in the middle of feeling the worst, but I didn't want to miss seeing Joey see the "real" Imagination Movers. I wasn't going to miss that for the world! We had such a great time! Naomi was even dancing and clapping along!

March 10, 2011

Oh, what a fun day we had!

We have been watching the birds in our tree today! We have had all different kinds! Common visitors are black eyed juncos and sparrows. We see them daily. Today though, our feeder was very busy! We had a dove, chestnut sided warblers, house finches (both male and female) and red-winged blackbirds! So much fun! Joey loves the chestnut sided warblers because the back of them are black and white... he calls them "zebra birds".

But even more fun than birds... Naomi started really walking today! She's been taking a few steps here and there, but today, she decided she would walk all the way across the livingroom! So, here she is a few days away from 15 months and she's walking! And... there's more! Naomi got her seventh tooth! She has at least another 3 that are working their way through! Big times for little Naomi! To think... she used to be so little...

And now look at how cute she is!

March 8, 2011

I'm sitting here with the cutest sleeping little girl in my lap. She's teething and just wants to be close to me. I think I shall oblige. In these moments when she is super clingy, I just remember that she is only going to be this little once and she will grow up way too fast. It's moments like these that I am completely and totally aware that I am not the mom I thought I'd be. I'm a better mom than what I thought I'd be. I have learned to follow my instincts and not apologize for that. I didn't know what attachment parenting was until I was already doing it. Back in the day, I had an online friend that I thought was a little crazy in her parenting style... now I have proudly turned into her! More on my attachment parenting ways to come...

Now, more on my little Naomi... She is changing so much over the last couple weeks. She is picking up new words daily and is so close to walking! This is seriously one of my favorite stages! I absolutely love it!

"In the middle of my little mess, I forget how big I'm blessed." That's a line from Francesca Battistelli's song "This Is The Stuff". First of all, I love the song. It makes me smile when I hear it and sing along! And second, I love that line. It's probably my favorite in the song. I'm not feeling like I'm in the middle of a little mess, but oh, how we forget how big we're blessed! As I look at both of my kids as they nap today... *gasp* at the same time... I remember just how big I'm blessed. I'm so glad that God has seen fit to entrust these two little people to me! I read over Proverbs 31 today (I like to do that as a reminder from time to time) and it challenges me to be a better wife and mother.

A funny story from over the weekend. We were at the dinosaur museum and stopped in the gift shop on the way out. Joey and his cousins picked out these stretchy glow in the dark dinosaurs. Joey picked out a T-Rex. I asked him what he was going to name his T-Rex. He thought about it for a minute and said, "Rainbow." LOL A T-Rex name Rainbow! Such a tough name, huh?

March 6, 2011

Oh boy! What a weekend! My mom, the kids and I drove out to western Kansas to visit my brother and sister in law for my sister in laws surprise birthday party! We had so much fun! The kids were amazing on the drive out! Since Joey has stopped wearing diapers, when he says he has to potty, he has to potty right then, so that posed a challenge a few times! But I think we only stopped once on the way out! When we got in to town, we checked in to the hotel and went and got a bite to eat. This is when the oh so amazing "naaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddddddddddddd" moment happened (see the 4th's post). The next day we went to the "dinosaur museum" and had alot of fun there! The big kids went swimming after lunch while Naomi napped. Then we went to my brother's for lunch! It was such a busy day! We headed home on Sunday... this time we had to stop 4 times for potty breaks! Oh well! I am thankful that he can tell me now!
Here's a couple pics from our trip!

March 4, 2011

You know... I called this "daily" ramblings, which means I have to ramble daily! Some days I feel like rambling. Some days I don't. Today, I do.

We were eating out for dinner tonight and Joey had to go potty. I love the fact that he is potty trained, but I find that he has to go potty at the most inconvenient times. So, up we go and head off to the bathroom. When we were headed back to the table, he yells, "Naaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeedddddddddddddddddddddd" as he ran past tables full of people. Yep, that's my son. So, so very proud.

Naomi is getting four teeth at once, her poor little gums look like they hurt so much. Babies are tough. I don't think I could go through that and be happy at the same time. Seriously. She's tough. And she's awesome. She was such a trooper today as we were in and out of the car alot. Awesome. Really awesome.

Without further ado... a couple pictures of my cuties while we were outside!

March 2, 2011

Why in the world am I doing this?  LOL  Well, I am a stay at home mom (SAHM) and usually have something to ramble about.  If I don't have something to ramble about, I usually have a picture to share.  I'll start out telling you about the kids!

Joey is 3 1/2 and dreading turning four!  LOL  He tells me that he does not want to turn four, he's happy being three.  Honestly, I'm not sure I can blame him!  Three looks like a pretty good age to me!  He is the silliest little guy I know, constantly wanting to make me or anyone else he is around smile.  He is super smart and super cute.  But I think my favorite thing about him is how   loving he is! He loves to snuggle and tells me multiple times a day that I'm his "best mama in da whole wide world".  Seriously, he's so sweet!

Naomi is 14 months old and boy, oh boy... she's a sassy little thing!  She also is super sweet, loves to blow kisses and give random hugs.  She has a bit of a temper already and when she gets mad she tends to head butt whatever is closest to her!  LOL  It, however, has little to no affect on her!  She's a tough little thing!  She is super close to walking, in fact, she runs along the furniture.  If she would ever just let go, she'd be running.  I think she will skip the walking and go straight to the running.  Great.

Preston is working his behind off to get his chiropractic practice off and running!  He is gone a 12 hours a day, so we try to go do lunch with him often and make the most of the time he is at home.  He is in seminars once a month on the weekends, so our time with him is precious.

I am a SAHM and really, really believe that I have the best job in the world!  I love getting to watch these kids grow up and become who they will become.  I love being a part of that!  I am part of an awesome group of women who support other breastfeeding mommies.  It's such an honor to be part of this Christ-centered group of women.  They encourage me and challenge me to be more like Jesus in my daily walk.  God is so good to have put them in my path!  I also have recently started a two year program to become a Certified Lactation Educator.  I am super super excited about this!  I can't wait to see what all I will learn!

That's us in a nutshell!  After today, you will get all sorts of random ramblings from this SAHM!  Let's see where this will take us!

Here's a quick pic I took today on my phone... not the greatest quality, but we were ready to watch the Jayhawks play some basketball tonight!
